Medline has teamed up with Dipole for the development of an RFID project with the goal to facilitate the management of surgical inventory.
With this RFID solution, inventory control is obtained in real time, thereby achieving more efficient management with fewer errors; in addition to a saving of up to 15% in the time of surgical preparation. Combined with MedStock, this technology manages to create automatic replenishment orders based on actual inventory levels and defined order points.
The first step to operate this system is to implant an RFID label in each of the surgical teams, in order to correctly identify them. Relevant information such as the item number, lot number, or expiration date is stored inside the tag. Next, an RFID reader is placed at the entrance of the warehouse, which will allow managers to automatically track the inputs and outputs of the equipment.
