Layers composition of a RFID Label

As the title indicates, RFID labels are a sandwich of layers, each with a clear role and their knowledge may provide guidance for its best practice. In the accompanying graph below, find the layers that have a RFID label embedded chip-inlay. We cut by the area where the RFID chip is inserted.

As we can see, thickness of only 0.320 millimeters in the chip section and about 0.120 mm in the other sections of the label. Their layers are:

• Front face, which is the material (paper, plastics, synthetics ...) where it decorates and prints information. Turn makes the chip protection.
• Glue, to join the inlay with the paper. Normally this layer is comming from the adhesive paper manufacturer.
• RFID Chip, where's miniaturized radio circuit and where information is stored.
• Bumps, supports the RFID chip, usually made of gold for good contact and robustness to these dimensions. To attach the chip, apply a drop of glue with special electrical characteristics.
• Printed antenna, which in this case is copper colored and serves to catch the RFID electromagnetic wave and transmit the energy to the chip.
• 50 micron dielectric layer, usually PET made, which makes the support between printed antenna and chip. Layer PET is necessary to maintain rigid the web in the process of inserting the RFID chip .
• Glue to adhere the label to its destination.

Son muchos los factores que cuentan en la fabricación de las etiquetas RFID para conseguir que tengan:

• Tag-Sensibility. A good sensitivity to respond from the extreme situations, and
• Tag-Pacement. A "RFID radiography" of the product to know what label position will have greater sensitivity.
